Four Liquor Establishments Cited(7/21/2010)Four Liquor Establishments Cited July 21, 2010- City of St. Charles, IL- At the St. Charles Liquor Commission hearing on Monday, July 19, four liquor establishments were determined to have violated city liquor law. Two establishments were issued fines and assessed costs and two establishments were issued suspensions and assessed costs. A joint compliance check was conducted with St. Charles and Illinois State Police on June 3, 2010. These checks are made periodically on local license holders to make sure liquor is not served to underage customers. The Illinois State Police assisted as a statewide initiative through the Illinois Liquor Control Commission to assist local communities. On the June 3, 2010 compliance check, several St. Charles license holders were examined, with these four serving an underage customer.
Pub 222 (222 W Main Street, St. Charles, IL 60174) was issued a $1,000.00 fine and $486.00 legal costs. Scotland Yard (301 W Main Street, St. Charles, IL 60174) was issued a seven day suspension, and assessed legal costs of $558.00. The suspension will begin on August 11, 2010 and will end on August 18, 2010. This suspension and legal costs are in addition to an earlier citation- a four day suspension and $1,000 plus $500 costs for an after hours occupancy violation that occurred on January 1, 2010, when several occupants were observed consuming alcohol after closing hours, and were discovered after St. Charles Police noticed a number of people standing outside a rear door, after closing. Scotland Yard was also fined in April 2007 for service to minors, and again in August 2009 for after hours occupancy. Real Time Sports (584 S. Randall Road, St. Charles, IL 60174) was issued a fine of $500.00 fine and assessed $486.00 in legal costs. The House Pub (16 S 1st Avenue, St. Charles, IL 60174) was issued a suspension of three days and assessed legal costs of $486.00. The suspension will begin on August 29, 2010 and will end September 1, 2010. The House Pub was warned in November 2009 for over-service of alcohol, and found guilty of after hours violations in July 2010. Mayor DeWitte commented about these recent liquor violations. "These establishments will be subject to increasing levels of fines, suspensions, and revocation if necessary, should they continue to have difficulty complying with the city’s Liquor Control codes and requirements."
