In 2019, Kane County adopted substantial revisions to the countywide ordinance. The City of St. Charles is a “certified community”, allowing us to administer and enforce the county stormwater ordinance within our corporate limits. The City has adopted the revised county ordinance (available on the Kane County website), along with city amendments as Title 18 of the city code.
The City regularly monitors and inspects privately-owned detention basins in the City and advises owners of maintenance issues. Maintenance issues that are not addressed may be referred for Code Enforcement follow up.
