Crossing Guards

crossing guardThe St. Charles Police Department currently manages nine elementary school crossings. All other crossings are managed and staffed by CUSD #303.

Crossing Guards report to the Special Services Commander and are assigned to the nine individual locations. There are six guards are on call to staff crossings in the event that the assigned crossing guard is unavailable.

These dedicated individuals work throughout the school year, no matter what the weather. They safely cross approximately 480 children per day and have an impeccable safety record.

In addition, crossing guards also help to staff pedestrian crossing and traffic assistance locations at special events, such as parades and festivals.
