Clarke, the mosquito control vendor for the City of St. Charles, is conducting a citywide spray the evening of July 17, weather permitting.
West Nile-positive mosquitoes were identified in traps in St. Charles and surrounding communities. In the interest of public health, St. Charles is joining its neighbors in conducting mosquito spray.
In anticipation of severe weather this evening and to ensure everyone's safety, the City Council and Government Operations meetings scheduled for tonight, July 15, are canceled and will be rescheduled for next Monday. Therefore, the City Council, Government Operations, and Government Services meetings will all be held Monday, July 22.
The City of St. Charles continues cleanup after a powerful storm struck Kane County on July 14. After the storm, several City departments, including Public Works, the Police Department and Fire Department, responded to storm-related service calls. The Southwest quadrant of St. Charles – the area south of Main Street and west of the Fox River – was hit hardest, and experienced the worst of the city’s storm damage.
“With another powerful storm forecasted for this evening, the City is taking proactive measures to ensure public safety,” City Administrator Heather McGuire said.
Dunham Road will be closed between Royal St. Georges Court and Country Club Road beginning July 10, 2024. Please follow the posted detour route. Click here for detour route map. The City of St. Charles Public Works Department is installing a new sanitary main at the intersection of Dunham Road and Royal St. Georges Court.
The Prairie Street bridge will close July 8 to Aug. 9, 2024 for scheduled maintenance. A posted detour route will direct traffic to the Illinois Street bridge and 3rd Street. More information about the project and regular updates, are on the Prairie Street Project page.
The Annual July 4th Fireworks will be launched from Langum Park, at 7th & Madison Avenues in downtown St. Charles. Fireworks will be launched at dark and can be seen along the Fox River, with the best viewing locations downtown St. Charles, south of Main Street. On June 15 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., the right north bound lane of Kirk Road will be closed for water main repair work.
Beginning June 10, Indiana Street and S. 14th Street will close daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for construction on the sanitary and stormwater sewers. The southeastern exit of the St. Charles Police Department also will be closed during the construction. The work is expected to last approximately one week.
Some City of St. Charles Water Customers received a letter from the City and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) on May 15, 2024. The City was required to send this letter to any residents who may have a lead or galvanized water service line in their home. We understand this letter may have caused some concern and we apologize for any confusion.
City offices are closed in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.
Main Street Closed for the Parade - 10 a.m.
The parade steps off at 6th and Main streets, continues to Riverside Avenue, concludes at the Riverwalk Freedom Shrine. Main Street will be closed to traffic and a detour route to Illinois Street will be in place. Police officers also will be posted at various intersections to assist with traffic direction.
